Now I hate to ask this question as I feel dumber than a stick, but here goes anyways.

How do you install the spring that holds up the engine cover on a 1968 type1? which way does the coil go?

Here are the tools you will need. Two strong thums and some eye protection.
Instal the rounded part into the notch under the rear window then push as hard as you can and slip one of the ends into the hole on the lid. Then using those strong thumbs push the other end into the second hole.

Maybe not the best discription but it should help.
