I'm not DVKK but I'm going to throw in my 2 cents because I own 2 of these cars, including a 73 fasty which I drive every day which I'm comparing this car to.
I'm not trying to talk anybody out of buying this car but here's what I think.
Those are some good quality pics and they say a lot
Not too sure about that \"daily driver\" status though.
There are a few scary things going on with this car as far as I can see:
- The bondo-over-rust that's happenin' on the rear sail panel
See how much is bubbling up underneath it? That looks pretty damned ugly but it's a little tough to tell from the picture exactly HOW bad it is. May be worth looking in to because it could be minor.
- Have a look at the pic of the gas tank. Under the filler hose is some nasty cancer bubbling through. Keep that noted and check the other side - esepecially under the brake-fluid resevoir.
- What's with the plastic bag and duct tape over the throttle body? Trying to keep the rats out of it?
- Seeing as \"it needs brakes\" and there's a tarp over it, it's probably safe to say it's been stored for a while and will likely need much more than brakes. Does it run?
- Why is the interior torn out of it? Is it all still there?
On a plus side, the electrical seems in order as far as I can tell. Nothing in the engine bay has been hacked up. The original FI is still intact
Assuming the motor checks out (compression), the interior is put back together and the car is a runner I'd say it would be worth no more than $1500 (stretching it in my opinion) assuming it only needs new brakes and such. You have to look beyond the red paint and shiny black floor pans with this car. I paid $1500 for my daily-driven 73 Fasty in June. It's never been hit, never been modified (until i owned it), never been raped or had shitty bodywork done, the fuel injection works flawlessly, i'm the second owner, and I drive it ALL the time. Sure mine is rusty as hell but it drives like a brand new car and I can fix rust - eventually.
Having said that, the car does look very solid. You'd have a hard time convincing me it's a daily driver though based on what you've said and the pictures. If you're going to check the car out again, have a really good look at the rocker panels too.
There's an ass for every seat, just make sure you don't sit on your wallet.
Happy hunting ^_^
