What do you all like for a street/track driven carb, Lots of different opions out there, I would like to hear what users on airspeed think!

I vote IDA as well here's why:

They are the BIG BOYS when it comes to carbs and they sound awsome under load - nothing like th bark of an IDA.

Mine have some mods done, 3rd progression, enlarged float bowl etc... and I find them quite easy to drive on the street - Cindy even drives it.

As far as flow etc... I'm sure DRLA 48's are comparable, not sure about idf's though.

They are easy to work on - so easy even I can do it :)

And they are big and look cool - go big or go home!

If its \" go big or go home\"  then why do you have a mouse motor? I will admit that Im no expert in this area but from what I understand that the idf carbs are more streetable. Where the ida carbs are put the hammer down and go. So, what if I was to switch to a ida. What kinda difference would it make? I guess there is only one way to find out for sure. I think this is a good question so maybe the experts will chime in. Thanks, B

Brian - what kinda manifolds/linkage do you run? if compatible wanna bolt my IDA's up to you car and see if there is a difference at the track? Should be way easy as your engine bay is larger than a bugs.

Ask SHane about the bark of an IDA - he was like \"what the F**K was that\" when I put the engine under low rpm load.

decide if you want to run with decklid closed or propped open as well as if you want to run filters.

Hey James, I would deffinately be willing to try. Im pretty sure my manifolds are different than yours as well as the porting work. My linkage is csp. Got me thinkin now! :huh:

Brian , what venturies are in your idf's ?  If not the same as Jame's Ida's not a fair compair . That being said I like IDA's . They do sound different and even my wife drove them on the street alot with no complaints.

I run a 40 vent currently - Brian SHOULD have a 40 minimum a 42 would be his best bet I would imagine.

You can do that with either series of carb, it just all depends on manifold choice, air filter choice and year/model of VW it is.

I guess what I'm saying is you could or should also look at getting
some bigger vents for your IDF's as they are 48's as well and not just compair your IDF's from the box to Jame's IDA's with 40 or 42 vent's already put in them.  But I do like the IDA's :D
