Buying dropped spindles already made isn't cheap, but most of the cost seems to be the new link pins and bushings. You can fab your own, but it's not quite as easy as swapping your spindles around, but that is the basic idea. They get flipped over on the carriers, then stops are welded in. You also need to clearance the back side of the spindle to clear the carrier. It isn't the hardest thing to do if you have general fabrication skills, and a good welder.
Spindles won't push your wheels out on a T2. I would go with the dropped spindle route...makes for a much nicer riding bus.
