What are my options for brakes?

I've heard that it's impossible to put discs on my bus.  And would like to get better stopping power.  Is it true that there is no way to put them on a 4" narrowed adjustable beam. I was thinking rears but not sure.  Anyone have a idea?

69.  I have 14" tires on too

I recently parted out a 69 double cab that had been converted to late bay discs on the front and later drums on the rear so It can be done with just VW parts, but I'm not sure what the exact combination is. Also you have lots of options with dropped spindle conversions as your beam is already narrowed so width won't be an issue. Geoff may be able to hook you up, if not Wagenswest made me 911/split bus hybrid dropped spindles that work great.

There are many options out there. If your wanting to keep your drum drop spindles then use one of Lanners adapter kits to late bay or porsche. Only issue is all disc kits have a small bolt circle so you will need to run a adapter that will move the wheel out 1/2- 3/4 so check for tire to the outer support lip at the top of your wheel well.

The issue you will have is the 14" wheels as some brakes only fit 15 and up wheels.

If you run the late bus brakes all should be good.

I can build you a set of dropped disc spindles if need be.

We are having the same talk about drum to disc , here with friends , Geoff has the goodies and knowledge to do it and I still wonder how because I don't want to loose my wide five look but do have interest in better stopping if it is an easy conversion ?

Sorry Jerry all gone now, it was listed in here a while back, a few parts went to board members, Richard had the back bumper (not a DC one). I even shipped the roof and the load bed to the UK!! I'm never cutting one of those off again, it was a bitch.
