ok, its a vdo guage with the sender on the oil pressure relief valve on the back of the engine ( near the oil pump), i run 15-40 in the shoulder season, 20-50 in the heat. as for the engine, 1641cc, engle 110 w/ straight cut gears, scat counterbalanced crank, berg pump cover w/ full flow filter, bugpack oil pressure boost kit (since new), ported and polished heads (done by a reputable m/c drag race engine builder) also fly cut .040", bugpack street headers w/ mondo muffler, solid rocker shafts w/ stock ratio rockers, k-dog carbs on heavily ported alum. intake manifolds, and a 009 dist running 7 deg at 800 rpm. also running lightened flywheel, teflon wrist pin bushings, got the decklid stand offs, power pulley when its cool, stock pulley when its hot. completley stock tinning w/ good seal around the engine.
the vdo oil pressure guage never goes above 65psi even when its cold ( idles about 50 psi when cold, 25 psi at 800 rpm at 180f) at 250f i get around 5 psi at idle, at 270f the 3 psi oil light starts to flicker at idle. my vdo cyl. head temp sens. never goes above 200f and its mounted to the center-ish #3 head stud and my spark plugs show perfect mixture.
