First of all, I really appreciate vwboop for taking the time to phone the Langley outlet, as well as the rest of your suggestions and googling. Here's the story of my investigation thus far:
1. I drove out to Alldrive Canada's Airdrie, Alberta, location and it appears to be abandoned. There are no RV's, no staff, snow drifts in front of the door and the trucking company that shares the lot doesn't know where they have disappeared to. The office appears to be partly stocked or maybe they just mothball it for the winter.
2. Calgary BBB has "information" that they may be out of business, due to non-response to complaints and no phone number listed with directory assistance.
3. The Airdrie office does not answer the phone ever. Nor, emails.
4. As Kevin mentioned, if you check complaints boards, there are many others in the same boat as me...both Airdrie and Langley...still can't get deposits refunded.
5. I have spoken to three different RBC Visa Gold staff and all say that it is either too late (55 days since the transaction was processed) and/or they explain that security deposits are never covered by Visa...only goods and services, which I did receive in the form of my one-week RV rental. Visa says that with any credit card, a deposit is not covered after the service is provided, and it is up to the vendor company whether they refund some or all of the security deposit.
6. Visa directed me to small claims Alberta and they directed me to check bankrupcy Canada, but I couldn't get any information, as they charge a fee and I couldn't get the website to cooperate.
I will contact Visa again, explaining that the Langley store does have someone answering the phone sometimes and has RV's on site. I guess I have to decide if it's worth it to pursue a claim with a lawyer, versus the amount that I am out of pocket so far.
Thanks again for your help with this matter!
