Oil filters.

Has anyone ever had a oil filter come loose on them? What do you guys/girls recommend?

Lol. I had a feeling someone would say that. I'm sure it was on as tight as I could get it. Glad it happened at home and not on the track.

Is that because when it heat's up it will then expand and pop off. I was told to turn until snug and then counter turn a little. Is that correct?

What's snug?

Best is to follow the directions on the filter or it's box.  Usually it says to tighten it 3/4 - 1 turn after the seal contacts the surface.

Good idea to check the old filter when it comes off to make sure the gasket came off with it too, if it sticks to the engine you'll have all sorts of issues including coming loose.

Thank's Bruce you're correct everybody has their definition of what "snug" is. I usually turn it until it has contact with the surface area, but not over turn to cause it to strip. Perhap's I should start  reading the direction's.... Thank's for your help.
