Why was he recording himself? Arguing with a border guard..that will get you places.. IMHO, the traveller sounds like an ass.

Did you notice how the CDN guy was always the loudest/clearest talker on that recording, while sometimes it was difficult to hear the border guards?  That is because the stupid guy had a recording device on himself.  IOW, he made the recording, not the border guys.  Also, the recording starts before first contact with US immigration.

At 8:40 or so a border guard made a comment about being recorded. Officers do wear mic's to record audio but in all this they never frisked him and found a recording device?

I do agree that he seems to be the loudest..... almost seems like maybe its b.s.

The problem I have is there is no way to register a complaint that won't fall on deaf ears. These guys feel they are above the general public and will tell you that. Rude treatment is obviously protocol because almost all of them are rude and disrespectful.

One time they held my buddy for questioning in the airport. They asked him what time his flight left. He told them and the customs guy kept looking at his watch and purposely held him until just after his flight left.  Nice way to welcome people into your country.

Three terrorists a day. That means they bust over 1000 terrorists a year just at that crossing. Times that by at least 50 crossings across the country. Do the math.

That's my rant for the day.

The recording device was probably his I-phone.  They have an ap for that.  I don't think they take away phones as possible weapons.

Sounds like both of them were looking for a fight, not wise to argue with boarder patrol, you will never win.
I live in Aldergrove and go across for gas a lot, I get more harrasement from the Canadian side coming home then I do from the US going down. The US guys usually ask the normal questions and then it turns into jokes about how crappy the milage must be on my truck, then have a nice day and off I go. I get grilled and harressed almost everytime coming back into my own country.

Thats nothing. Years ago I had my 73 beetle on flat deck tow truck going to SIR to drag race. The US border guys were trying to open up my hood for inspection as I was in the office. I was standing right by the door. I opened it and I said "theirs a latch in the glove box" I had a gun pointed to my head (aprox 2feet away).

I said "pull the trigger tough guy". The "professional border dude screamed "get in the fu!!ing building, get in the fu!!ing building. The "man in charge" made no apologies and I went on my way to SIR.

Crossing with brother in law one year for SIR. We were in his beetle and got pulled inside. When in there my brother in law said he needed to go to the washroom, and asked where it was was. Boarder guard ignored, so he repeated his question. Boarder guard stood up and just yelled sit down now! Then my BIL got upset and said I really need to take a piss. Guard told him to piss in his pants as he was not to get off that bench. He seriously debating pissing in his pant despite the prick but we figured much like that clip you just cant win. Sit there shut up and move on so they can continue being angry for their shitty life...

My opinion of most guards I have encountered are pricks. Funny thing is I am not sure how some of those retards qualify for the job as it is quite difficult to get...

Interesting clip for sure.

A few months ago I went to the US to pickup a set  of rims at Haleys to save on shipping.
FYI, I have no record, no speeding tickets and a passport.

I was driving a 98 Ford Explorer in great shape(Certainly no beater) and 20 cars from the crossing guard, 3 guards on foot pick me out and search my car, ask the questions... what's in your car etc. Np, funny they picked me out though, maybe it was the tinted windows huh?
I arrive at the crossing guard (US site still) and I get searched again, same questions. Ugh... annoyed yet?

On my way to Haley's I get pulled over by local police. I am given a ticket for failing to stop at the "NEW" stop sign(or so the cashier at Haley's tells me). While I am waiting for my ticket 2 more cops pull up. Am I that interesting? They give me a $140US fine.

I pick up my rims, and on my way back into Canada, the guard asks me what is in the box, how I made the purchase, and how much the rims cost me. I say "2 used Volkswagen rims, ordered off of the internet and they cost about $100."

He replied quite loudly, "ABOUT!?, I never asked you about how much they cost...!"
Rude prick.
They search me again.

Am I interested in visiting the US again anytime soon?
Certainly not, it hardly seems worth it.
And it seems it doesn't seem to matter if you are an idiot or not, guilty of something or not, if the border guards are in a mood, US or Canadian they have the right to hassle you in the hopes of a gold star.

My rant... thanks for listening.

It amazes me how many bad stories there are about the border. I've never had an issue from either side and I cross a lot and at all 4 local crossings.
