Interesting clip for sure.
A few months ago I went to the US to pickup a set of rims at Haleys to save on shipping.
FYI, I have no record, no speeding tickets and a passport.
I was driving a 98 Ford Explorer in great shape(Certainly no beater) and 20 cars from the crossing guard, 3 guards on foot pick me out and search my car, ask the questions... what's in your car etc. Np, funny they picked me out though, maybe it was the tinted windows huh?
I arrive at the crossing guard (US site still) and I get searched again, same questions. Ugh... annoyed yet?
On my way to Haley's I get pulled over by local police. I am given a ticket for failing to stop at the "NEW" stop sign(or so the cashier at Haley's tells me). While I am waiting for my ticket 2 more cops pull up. Am I that interesting? They give me a $140US fine.
I pick up my rims, and on my way back into Canada, the guard asks me what is in the box, how I made the purchase, and how much the rims cost me. I say "2 used Volkswagen rims, ordered off of the internet and they cost about $100."
He replied quite loudly, "ABOUT!?, I never asked you about how much they cost...!"
Rude prick.
They search me again.
Am I interested in visiting the US again anytime soon?
Certainly not, it hardly seems worth it.
And it seems it doesn't seem to matter if you are an idiot or not, guilty of something or not, if the border guards are in a mood, US or Canadian they have the right to hassle you in the hopes of a gold star.
My rant... thanks for listening.
