My story is maybe not as severe but maybe it will help.
I decided on a second and third opinion... especially when I found out surgery was involved.
6 Months ago, or so,I started to experience major pain in my knees, hips and mid back/neck. So bad that I couldn't get up or down stairs, kneel down on the ground or walk up an incline. I had an MRI and found that I have a degeneration in my left knee as well as some other issues that came from compensating for the damage I had done over the years. So in the joints, behind my knee caps etc., the tissue was swelling so much that I thought I was not going to work on my car again let alone drive it, play with my kids or enjoy being the active person I always have been.
Everyone was talking about replacing my knee. ack! Now I'm only 39, ummm a new knee wasn't the solution I hoped for... but, a family member told me to go see this doctor about a therapy called Prolotherapy.
Well after 6 months, I am not only going up and down stairs, but running, jumping, kicking a soccer ball with my youngest, I am able to work again, etc. Maybe I am not ripping an edge at the skate park, and blazing over a hip on my mountainbike, but I am able to enjoy life again.
My therapy is not complete, but I have beat surgery for now anyways. And if I continue to improve like I am... who knows!
I hope that everything turns out for you.
