Emilio Update!
« on: January 18, 2007, 06:37:18 PM »
Hey guys,
I just talked to Emilio and he's much better! He got transferred out to VGH and he is in TOWER B room 10730. His visiting hours are really flexible. I'm stopping by after school tommorow and dropping off some magazines and a book. He's going to be in the hospital for at least the next three days or intill he can walk to the curtain. He's in a fair bit of morphene however he did sound a lot more like himself this evening.
Anyways..

Damn I hate hearing about this stuff.  Glad to hear he's on his feet though.  All be it with the aid of Morphene.  What kind of damage was there to his knee?

I work near VGH. I think I'll cruise by, after work, and say \"Hello\".
Silas, isn't that your neighbourhood?
Anybody else?

Hey Gary,
I'm sure its probably in some ICBC salvage yard. Quite possibly the one underneath the Queensborough bridge. I'm going to see Emilio tommorow and try to get some plan going or have him think about how to get it out.. The problem might be is if ICBC tags it as such it might be only possible to have it bought by someone with a permit(A rebuilder) and the car might have to be destroyed(Cut in half)...
Anyways... if anybodys going by tommorow I should be by sometime after 3:00. If you want to organize anybody can give me a ring at 604 787 6232

Where did you dream up that crap from?

The car belongs to Emilio and there's nothing ICBC or the Motor Vehicle branch can do to keep the car from him.

Until you sign a transfer form, it is your car.  DUH!

I hope you didn't tell that to Emilio.  He doesn't need more depressing news.

The car is probably sitting in the towing yard of the tow company.  Until a claim is opened, ICBC doesn't know the car was wrecked, so it won't be in the ICBC yard under the south end of the Queensboro bridge.

This brings up a point I tell everyone.  If you wreck your car and you are not injured, tell the towing co to take your car to your house.  You own the car and I don't understand why anyone would want to pay to store their car at a towing yard where any one of the employees can sift through whatever you have in the car.  They will also leave it in the yard where it will fill with water through any broken windows.

That \"crap\"  happened to a buddy of mine. Yes your entirely correct that they cannot do anything to the car till you sign it over. However they deemed my buddys 2002 to have to be destroyed and it could only be bought back by a auto rebuilder as parts and it had to be cut in half before it left the lot. Also they put such a high value on the car that it was entirely unpractical to buy it back till it went through auction which only certain people should ask. So before you jump to conclusions. Yes the above story is entirely true...

When I got wrecked I had my car towed to my house and then it had to be taken to the claims place out in POCO to be assessed. Then ICBC lost it. The car it is for a couple hours.. that was fun.

I'll be by after my astro lab so 5:30ish on.

i just got back from having a good visit with emilio, his wife olive, daughter emily and good friend/co-worker john (aswell as another couple, i cant remember their names).

emilio seems to be in good spirits, and we all shared many laughs and stories.

on behalf of myself, my girlfriend lori, and all the asf members and local vw community i gave him a cool vw card and toy beetle from puerto rico (where he's from).

he says he really appreciates the condolences and well wishes that you all send and says that he cant wait to go cruising again.
