plans for the inside of i assume the gas tank hole? or was it left however it came outta the paint room? i know sweet F all about buggies just thought i would ask!

hahaha i know that much, im talking where the lower part of the tank sits, like near the master cylinder does that get any paint or undercoat or something what did they do in there originally?

I was able to put in a few hours on the Manx. I ran the main loom, Installed some small parts including the ID tag.

Painted the sides (pic taken before it dried)

Rear tub with id tag

Fresh restored gas tank with chrome cap.

Mounted the dash support and ABS dash

Hope to get back to it Sat.

Here's a few shots of the engine tined up. There are still a few things to do like rebuild the 32 Zenith, rebuild the fuel pump, proper coil bracket,swap the 009 for a 010 or 019 with black cap and some other odds and ends.
This is a 68 block that I converted to dog house for a little better cooling, other than that it's pretty much the way the Manxpower engines looked.

Here's the powdercoated windsheild frame, looks close to the anodized finish but tends to scuff fairly easy.

The windsheild is just resting in place as I need to find a seal for the bottom.

In this pic you can see how short the lower windsheild seal between the frame and hood is. It has shrunk some but must have been cut at some point? It's short on both sides by roughly the same amount. I'd like to find a new seal or patch this one with another. Worst case i'll find something else to use.

Pull that seal out so you can see what it's profile is like. Then go to Spae-Naur, they have many different profiles.

Got a few hours in on the buggy this weekend. I had an old sidewinder style exhaust but it wasn't the correct one and I didn't really like the look of the larger glasspack on the ones the Manx Store now sells, so....

I went about building my own, not quite finished but ya get the idea. I found an NOS Glasspack from 1969 so I think it should look the part.

Those windshield frames can be a real bear especially when working with old glass. Rob and I spent a weekend on his and we still don't have it to where we were totally happy with it. The old glass is an inch thick in the top corner and not quite straight so it made for a lot of fun.

Thanks to Russ at Frances Andrew site Furnishings I was able to get a new bumper bar bent up. The old original Manx bumper was in less than great shape with the lower bar badly damaged.

looks amazing, having built one I thought was nice.
This again another level. nice work, love the OG Manx touches.
All the windsheild rubbers i have seen and have had were short an equal amount at both ends.
these thing are FUN..
cant wait to see it finished.

When I built the HebRod I used a convertable windsheild bow seal and thought it may be close. I ordered one up and with a pair of scissors trimed a small flap off and it fits and works better than the orig! Best part is it was under $10

I went for my first drive! It was just down the lane and back a few times as I jetted the Zenith but it was a milestone.

First off I got my chrome back yesterday.... The front and rear bumpers really look nice considering what I started with.

Installed the Delswift mirror, Bumpers, skid plate and a few other things.

Lots more to do tomorrow. I still need to build the air filter (old school oil bath) licence plate mount, root etc..

Anyways just wanted to share the big day! I love driving this already.

Great job Geoff. Car looks wicked and I can't wait to see it up close. Most people on the asf can appreciate the manx and its history, but it's just too bad that when you're cruising around in it most people who pause to take a look won't realize the rarity of the vehicle and that it's not just another glass buggy.

I compare it to any one of the incredible cars that comes out of the DVKK stable or where ever. If I hadn't seen the car before and up close and in magazine spreads, and it had just driven past me, I would admire it but I wouldn't be able to appreciate all the time, money and attention to detail that went into it. Although I'm sure you guys build them for yourselves to enjoy, in some small way we want everyone to enjoy them as well. I think you understand my point.
