Something fishy here. Stroke is more than the bore. Don't know of to many aircooled vw motors like that. HMMMMM. My guess is with Lanny. Does Geoff have a plane???

Ding Ding Ding!!!! Ovalzealous was correct! And no it will never run again, It is one of the four Hercules Bristol 14 cyl engines from my uncles Halifax LV905 Bomber that crashed in Holland in may of 1944.

Below is a pic of what is left of that engine after 62 years, in fact not much has changed since the day it struck the dyke as it sunk in the clay only two days later.

I'm still working out details but it should be here by spring 07

Here's a little info on that type of motor

Type: 14-cylinder air-cooled two-row radial engine
Bore: 5.75 in (146 mm)
Stroke: 6.5 in (165 mm)
Displacement: 2,364 in
