I would try to ask around to see if you can get some real feedback from a mazda tech. That wagon does look sharp.

pray that mazda didn't put the duratec 3L from the ford piece of shi! contour. Thats the same engine that MPV's have. Junk junk junk.

Since you wont be servicing major tuneups yourself that car will be fine. Horrific nighmares for the mazda techs on certain mazda products. alot of their lines are fresh so I usually dont hear much feedback.

Thing about mazda's is that they have a big bang for the buck for the $$$$.  Nissan's are also the big bang for the japanese makes. Nissans are great when they are under warranty but when they get some miles and age on them the DONT hold up like a toyota or honda.

Alot of the mazda engines over the years get noisy hydraulic lifters. Not sure about the new ones because they are so new.

The Nissans and Mazda's have horrible engine layouts with hard to access components. A good example is your old MX3 4 banger. try to access the EGR valve. I'd love to beat the hell out of the engineer that was a book geek with no mechanical hands on background.

harder to access parts takes more time. MORE TIME = THINNER WALLET.

Gav if your leasing get whatever you want. drop it off at the dealership after 4 years or so. If you looking for a honda or acura I can probably save you some coin.

I have a 06 mazda 3 and like it. Bought it new, it has a way better feel than other cars in the same class. Some feel cheap, the Mazda feels like you spent a little more money. No problems so far.
