Fricken Crazy Prices
« on: September 20, 2006, 11:15:54 PM »
Okay, So on the Samba there is a guy in argentina who is selling the COVERS off a split for 500 dollors
No beading, Fell off years ago but seat COVERS are nice........used fricken seat material?????
Am i fricken crazy? Why would you dump like twenty grand into a split resto and buy some used seat covers and get a guy to re-pipe them??

I Don't understand like half the prices on the samba lately.  Is anyone else out there feeling like i am?

I understand rare items like, Steeringwheels, Rabambas trays, roof racks, ect. I even understand N.O.S small parts, but i have seen used window rubber? door stops? USED SEAT COVERS?? With no piping???
What gives with this shit?

Even the empi Crazy guys who pay top dollor for laminated wood knobs, and crappy shifters, I understand the idea behind the craze, But what is with the crap people?

Cheers!!

Two issues.
Supply and demand- some of these parts are getting harder to find which will automatically bring the price up.
Stupid people- someone will buy the stuff even when they know it's over priced, which escalates the prices even more.

Just my opinion ;)

Unfortunateley some moron might pay a stupid price like that to get original german quailty or the perfect patina item for a rat ride. Like blarney says, supply and demand. It's also a lot like fishing, put an out of line price on the junk you can't give away and some sap with more money than brains is going to buy it.
