Test And Tune

Darren Dilley appears to be quite a natural behind the wheel. :o  Right off the trailer, having never been down the 1/4 mile cracked off a mid 13 @ 119! As the day went on, he figured out what all those waving people and flashing lights were all about..right down to a 10.75 @ 129..holy shit! 18 lbs boost and absolutely no problems (besides some leaky valve covers) made for an epic first time out for Darren. Jim Martin made a bunch of mid to high 11 sec passes w. some serious MPH. Kroc cracked some more 11's and Alan ran some low 12's before a trans problem stopped him. A terrific day overall.

have to say this was one fun day !!!!!4 great cars ,4 great drivers all having fun , and a bunch of terrific support people behind them, dave, merko, silas, lanny, shane, brad and i'm sorry if i left anyone out.
if you were going to experiance a friDAY test and tune this one would have been a great one .there is something about them that is way more relaxing than the evening events.
anyway i'm going to hook up the video camera and watch some of the action .and i will figure out how to get it up somewhere.
for me the WOK has now mastered the art of the burout and the wheeeelie
and still drove under its own power on the trailer, which is always nice :D
best run so far of 11.657 @ 115.8

the 'WOK" June 2006 Hot VW's feature car  9.830 sec at 143.44 mph.

Nice runs everyone.  Way to go Darren.  This is the way to do it, no pressure from the heat of a race.

Good acomplishment Jim.  It is allways nice to be able to drive it on, or home at the end of the day.

ditto to what lanny, shane & jim said.

allthough the clouds and scattered showers didnt look too promising in the morning, it was sunny and slightly overcast all day and the temps were good.

this was my 4th (or 5th, i cant remember) day out at the friday test & tunes. usually it's just jim & i but it sure was cool to have 3 other acvws out and a good group of pit monkeys aswell B) . imho, a day at test & tune is way better than the friday night street legals. there is time to chill out & relax, make some adjustments, bench race, and still get 7 runs in.

kudos to darren d for taking the time to tame that wild green beast and lay down some wicked runs.

jim got the front wheels in the air and carried them for awhile on 3 consecutive runs.

sorry, no still pics today, but i did get some good video of all the cars making passes. some head to head runs. hopefully they can be posted online somewhere.

all in all it was a great time with a great bunch of guys and some fast acvws.
