Steamworks Concours D'elegance
« on: September 01, 2006, 11:18:32 AM »
I've gone to this show, in previous years. Not VW related, but  there are some really nice classic cars.

From Friday's Province newspaper.

Nothing to do tomorrow? (Sat. Sept. 2)

Abandon the modern family car, hop on the bus or SkyTrain and head for Waterfront Station to view up to 100 of the finest hand-picked vintage and collectors' cars from B.C. and Washington entered in the 2006 Steamworks Concours d'Elegance.

Gastown's Water Street will be closed for the day and cars will be displayed from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. from the Gassy Jack statue all the way to Granville Square.

The vehicles will be judged by class and the following categories Most Elegant Pre War car, Most Elegant Post War Car, Chairman's Award for Elegance and Style, the ICBC Preservation Award and Best Presented Motor cycle.

If you don't want to go to the car show, you can always check out the PNE. There will be some Irish dancers on the Festival Square stage at 2:00. That's where I'll be (not dancing, my daughter is :P )

How was the show? Anyone go out?

I was at the PNE this afternoon watching my daughter dance and take pictures for her school. I think I set a new record for photograghy! I took 340 pictures in 25 minutes  I ended up deleting about 35 as soon as I loaded them.

I went today, quite a big show jammed into gastown. This years addition of 'lead sleds' and some more American Iron should help with the hype. My favourite, a strange tiny little Honda sports coupe, beautifully restored, even the undercarriage. Some amazing vintage motorcycles too.
