Mother F_*#%@!

So breaking in the new engine tonight, I had 75 PSI oil pressure for about the first 5 minutes, then it dropped to 0, zilch, nada.  I tried changing gauges, senders, and even the stock warning light, but nothing. Wasn't running hot, still turns over, and if I crank the engine without any senders in at all, the oil flows.  I tried blocking the warning light hole with my finger, and when I removed it after cranking the engine, the oil sprayed everywhere.  What seems odd is that the warning light doesn't come on when hooked up to the sender, but if I remove the wire, the light comes on.  I ground it, light goes off.

HELP!  I need to get this car out for your show!  If anyone has any ideas, post or call me at 403.245.5388

It sounds like you have a grounding issue in the dash/speedo area. I'm guessing you are using an electric guage. Try hooking one end of a test light to the idiot light sender and the other to 12 volts and see if it goes out when run. Check the ground on your gauge. Try a mechanical gauge. Good luck.

I'm sure the lights in the speedo  are powered while the keys is on. The stock oil sender is the ground. If you touch the wire to the block the light should come on.  BTW if your using a gage then it must be a different sender or a dual terminal sender , one for the gage , one for the light. Hope that helps or makes any sense.
