I'm toying with doing this to my squareback. I don't think it's ever been done before. Input would be great.

Sorry about the pic size

By the way, this would be a 12\" extension.

I've thought about it too, but I'm not convinced the type 3 would make a good fenderless car, and without taking the fenders off your wheels would be sticking out side the fender like a mid 90's Honda civic with gold wires.

The best part is, its your car. You don't need permission from anybody (except your wife) to customize a vehicle. Some will like it- some will hate it, but build it for yourself, not for the masses.

I don't get it. What are you going to do with the sheetmetal? You would either have to open up the wheel arch to accomodate the extended wheelbase or remove the front fenders completely. The reason this look \"works\" with a beetle or a 32 Ford (or any other numerous early US cars) is because the nose of the car tapers to the front. A squareback also has a very square front and in my opinion lends itself much better to the early '50's shoebox style custom than the pre '40's fenderless hot rod style. I'm not saying that it can't be done but I do think it would be very difficult to pull off and make it look like it's supposed to be that way. Remember, just because you can doesn't always mean that you should. But like Matt said, it's your car. Do whatever makes you happy with it because that's what matters in the end. If you can doi and make it look good, then more power to ya!
