Refinishing A Roofrack
« on: July 23, 2006, 08:10:03 PM »
Hey guys,
I have a roofrack for Seabert. Its a bit weathered and well since my car is getting repainted it just won't do. However I'm looking at other options then just plain jane roofrack. Anybody play around with tinted stains before? Any ideas on what to refinish the metal parts of the roofrack with?
Cheers,
Kirin

Kirin, is it a newer Flat 4 rack or an older one?
With the previous one I had (an 80's Flat 4) I simply gave the wood a light sanding and had it prepared for a natural stain and marine varnish but sold it before I had an opportunity to complete it.  For the metal again just gave it a quick sand with some emery cloth and coated it in a silver hammertone.  I've seen a couple where the frames were painted to match/complement the car's color as well.
