personally i think you should build yourself a good reliable motor to start, then if you feel the need start looking at a turbo system.
a dead reliable 1776 would be a kick in the pants compared to a stock 1600 if built right, and would last you a very long time, even a well built mild stroker like bruces would be fun as hell to drive and if maintained would last. plus a good mild performance motor is a very good base for a turbo motor.
like james said, start saving some cash, and build it with GOOD quality parts the first time. you will spend more $$ initially but its worth it in the end.
