If I leave my CV joints in the terrible state they are in at the moment, they are making clunking noises to the point where I dont really like to drive the car anymore. But what is the absolute worst thing that could happen if I leave changing them for a year or so?

They will fail catastrophically and leave you stranded in the most inconvienient and remote place at the worst time possible!It's Murphy's law ! ;)

Worried enough to start looking for a set of driveshafts yet? They are easy to change and you don't need new ones, cleaned out used ones with fresh grease will last for years.
