I figured it might have been because it sat for a little while and thought it would go away after driving it for a bit..but it didn't, On the engine side its fine. The RPM drops as soon as I stop giving it gas but when I hit the gas pedal, it takes more like 2 or 3 seconds for it to come down. What could be the culprit?

Hi Rich. You say you just replaced the clutch? Maybe the throttle tube in the shroud and the flexible throttle casing that runs from the front of the trans to the tube in the shroud are not joined correctly. there can also be some rubber from the bell housing seal in there as well causing tension. make sure the flexible hose is slid over the cable tube properly behind the fanshroud. Thats usually what goes wrong after an engine re-re.

I know about the fan shroud tube but what is this \"flexible throttle casing\" ? It's supposed to be attached to the back of the fan shroud? How long is it approximatly? I don't remember one being there, but I could be wrong. I'll check in a little bit once the engine cools down...

goes from the tube on the pan to the edge of the transmission where it should meet up with the metal tube through the fan shroud.

Home supply stores like Home depot and Canadian tire have a milky white semi flexible water pipe on a roll, I think it's 3/8 id (better measure instead of testing my fuzzy memory) that is perfect for the throttle tube. Just the right size and made of nylon or something else that's slippery and holds it's shape. You'll need a little less than a meter but it's cheap so get extra. Most of the time I end up buying both sizes they have because I can't remember what size I need and the other size is handy for something in the shop.
