Beetle Battery Area Welding Needed... North Shore?
« on: June 15, 2006, 04:14:08 PM »
Anyone know of someone on the North Shore who can weld in a fix my battery area to get through provincial inspection? I don't easily have the ability to get out to Stephan for the perfect job right now, I hate to do things twice, but the towing from N.Van with permits or a tow is pricey when I can drive it out later. (I've done searches through the archives but with no luck)
thx as always
Brian

What about pop-riveting in a tray and a thin bit of filler (just to cover the rivets & edge)? I don't think they could say too much about that. Have you tried taking it through already?

Thanks Mr. Boop, No I haven't tried yet, need a little more work on the brakes first. I could pop rivet it in and try, hadn't thought of that thanks. I'd have to cut out the old part first as it's a bit of a giveaway as I found out tonight as I dug around it. There was a piece of aluminum over the hole and caulking around it. Shouldn't be too bad a job in the end, but again now that I see it, I may end up calling Stephan to see when he can get me in. Have a number for him by chance, or is he in the book?
thanks again
Brian
