i'm getting ready to take my car to the blasters and will need a place to shoot it with etch primer when it's done.

i have a friend who will help me shoot, i was wondering if anyone knew of a place that i could rent for a day to shoot.

a booth with a compressor would be perfect. i will have everything else i need.

any ideas or leads are appreciated.

where abouts?? also ask the people where your getting it blasted...i'm sure they strip objects all the time before paint and may know of a few places.

i'm in vancouver, blasters is in richmond, so anywhere inbetween would be great. i dont feel like driving to abbotsford, but surrey/nordelta/poco would be fine.

i'll ask the blasters. good idea.

where are you getting it blasted? 'airstrip' in richmond just off 5 and bridgeport is good.
wait for a sunny day blow it of right there wipe it with laquer thinners and dust it with a light coat of primer from a tin.wurth makes a excellent primer.or make a at home booth with plastic ,dirt cheap and works great.
take into account travel time and booth rental this may work out cheaper and more convenient.you only need a light coat to stop oxidation before bodywork. good luck ,where are you in vancouver?

i'm at 12th and cambie in vancouver.

i've been told to stay away from rattlecan primers.

cant do the garage/home made booth, i've got no compressor.

i'm taking the car to airstrip in richmond. talked with the owner, jerry, today about techniques and price quotes.

i have factored transportation and booth rental into the budget. i'm trying not to cut corners and "go the cheap route", and do the car right.

i figured renting a booth and having a friend or myself shoot it would be alot more satisfying than going to some shop and having "joe paint gunt" do it.

if anyone knows of a booth to rent, or if it comes down to it, someone they know who wants to get paid for the job, please respond.

there is nothing wrong with a good quality can primer,you better look into what you are doing as certain primers bond differant dependant on metal [ tooth ] condition.if you are going to do bodywork after it is primerd much of what you applie will be sanded or ground of anyway.even with your finnish coat of primer it will have the tar sanded out of it.trust me i like doing it right the first time.and went through what you are doing 1 year ago.also make sure you high solids primer is compadible with your metal sealer coat.sorry i just don't think going through all this effert at this point is needed.but that will depend on body work if any is needed.
