hey matt, thanks for posting this.

i was just on the cal-look forum and was reading all about this.

truly a sad day indeed.

i only new of mark herbert. i never got the pleasure of meeting him personally. i still have the vwtrends issue with the ssb feature, i still like to view the \"quaife test video\" every know and then, and i will truly miss reading marks posts on the cal-look forum. he was a wealth of knowledge and was not afraid to be different. at least that is how i understood him. he is an acvw legend and i was looking forward to meeting him one day so he could sign my ssb issue of vwtrends.

my condolences and prayers go out to marks family & friends and the other motorist involved in the accident.

Tonight at the Clyde Berg cruise there were about 3 or 4 news crews, They were trying to interview anyone who would talk to them about Mark..
Truly a sad day... But everyone was saying he would want it to continue...
So it is....

RIP Mark

That is terrible to hear. :o  :(
I guess Mark never learned lessons from past. Hope everyone here can learn from this and keep it at the track where it belongs.

Hi Guys, I could not agree with you more on this Mark was with me at Irwidale on thusday watching me race.
But being labeled a Steet Racer is wrong I agree with you he was speeding but nobody realy knows if
he was racing anyone.

Yes lets keep racing and speeding for the track where it belongs.

Thanks
Mike Herbert

Hey Mike, really sorry to hear about your brother. When we left Nick's and saw all those helicopters, we had no idea it was for the crash. We heard about it at VW Paradise the next morn and we were all blown away. When I saw those memorial cards damn near cried... Awesome guy, we always look forward to seeing Mike and Mark, they always welcome us Canucks when we go down there. The vibe in the VW community was definately on edge this weekend and you could see how much he will be missed...

I remember when I first met Mark, I had heard about these crazy brothers and their Super Shit Box... and when we met them I was blown away how nice he was. He took us to his shop showed us all his latest projects, it was just really great to have this guy I read about taking us out for lunch and was so down to earth...

I hope the lady in the other car makes it out ok...

Very sad... All the best wishes to you and Suzy and your family... Gavin

I wondered why there were six helicopters above the highway when I was hauling the 55 back to Irvine from Nicks on friday. I still can't believe it.

We rolled in to Irwindale straight from the airport (after In&Out Burgers of course!) and there's Mark checking everyone's times &throwing out encouragement. He looks over ,smiles and says \"hey ,the Canadian boys are here!Handshakes all around ,and then he's back checking what Mike's time was in the PMP GAS car .Totally focused and into the scene like nobody else I've ever met .We said catch you later to look around and that was the last I saw of him .He was a cool -super knowledgible guy.Sorry to see him go .My condolences to you Mike..............
