Help A Fellow V-dubber.
« on: May 21, 2006, 12:20:40 PM »
Hello, I am pretty new to this forum and Vancouver. I am here from the UK on a 12 month work visa but as yet I have not found any employment.
I was an IT helpdesk manager back home but give it up to go travelling/working.

Does anyone here know anyone in the IT industry, names and company's would be ideal as \"networking\" is the big thing in Canada. Even if they are not hiring, I will send a resume over and take it from there. Basically I am a 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support technician with knowledge of networks and server support.

So if anyone can help me out and I can use you as a friend of a friend then please let me know.

Ideally looking for a contract position because of my visa and also looking for downtown Vancouver or somewhere that is easy to get to by public transport.

Thanks in advance.

Neil. (Fell free to talk about the cheeky Brit behind my back) :D

Na we just come right out and say it, and then post in the E-Thug.

Ya not missing much here weather is terrible, Wet , Windy and still bloody cold, the only comfort is that Leeds lost in the Play off final today 3-0 to Watford, I laughed my friggin socks off.

Good luck with the job buddy.

Try Telus, they like contractors for IT and also look up some of the local recruiters CNC Global , for IT contract work they are the best to start with.

You could try where I work, we are in a growth stage and just launching a new wireless data capture network.

Washington Marine Group, Specifically Seaspan and Vancouver Shipyard.

Bug Maniac - I sent you a pm the other day not sure if you got it, where are you from.
Not really bothered about football, but I will watch the world cup! I'm from a rugby league town, but they are going down the pan too.

1976Bus - I am registered with tek systems and my resume went over to Telus last week, but they are only after permanent people at the moment, I will badger them directly.
CNC looks good, and I have just registered, thanks for that.

James - I take it this is your place http://www.seaspan.com/ Do you have any names I could direct my resume to?

Dorothy Rogers would be your best bet, she is the department head.
