Why I Missed My Cruise
« on: May 07, 2006, 09:43:52 PM »
Hey Guys,
I'm writing this from the dream lodge in Kamloop. Today has been an interesting day no doubt. For those that haven't heard by now Seabert is feeling a little worse for the wear. She suffered a pretty decent hit this morning. Basically heres my story. Dod's 1600 and I were cruising down Burrard on the way to West Van. I stopped at a light and he didn't... Its that simple. Seabert got popped pretty decent. Decklid is toast. License plate light is toast. Drivers side fender is done so is the light and housing. Rear apron the spot weld is popping lose and the whole thing is bent. My Stiener bumper is well. No longer striaght or cherry. My license plate is folded in half and my neck is sore. ICBC will determine the rest. But above all I'm fine.. Tristan's car being a super beetle faired well. With similar damage as to my Sebring incident 2 years ago. The car was drivable till I broke the throttle cable and left my car at MCL motor cars. So the fun with ICBC begins. I really have no clue what the damage will total out to. I really doubt that they will be able to match the paint. I think this could end up being a rebuilding year for me.

Tristan's obviously very sorry. Its a shitty situation but so is life. Accidents happen. I will rebuild(I have no choice) life will move on and above all. Its why we have insurance. ...
I will post up pics on Wednesday when I get home.

Above all I guess I will finally get to test out what actually does happen with two cars at a cruise have a incident. It was bound to happen one day I guess...

So if anybody would like to donate to the bring her back to life fund.. I'm looking for rear end parts for a 62 beetle...

Sometimes I get the feeling the whole world is against me, but deep down I know that's not true. Some smaller countries are neutral.

IT's in the holding yard? They wanna try and write it off man..trust me! It's your car untill you sign it over to them. If you decide you wanna have it fixed they have two choices.....bring it to a shop thats willing to fix it or give you back the car and some $$$ and you can fix it yourself or wherever you please. ICBC see's no value in old cars...especially VW's... unless you have a current apprasal.
Be firm with them!

Might be an idea to go talk to Stephan Feeg Kiki. He may be able to help you out with this one. It's gonna be a struggle.

Kirin, you should get your car out of that yard NOW!
It is your car and they have no right to keep it there.  It looks like it still runs, does it?  If the deck lid is rubbing on the fan pulley, you should be able to wrestle it away so you can drive the car home.

This is advice to everyone.  If you ever crash your car and it has to be towed away, usually the towing co will take it to their yard.  Why would anyone want their car there?  They do this because then it costs a second tow to get it out of there.  Instead, have YOUR car towed to YOUR house.

Kirin, I have heard of horror stories happening in the ICBC morgue under the Queensborough bridge.  Cars that are still in limbo have been known to be sold to wrecking yards for scrap when the owners want their car back.  The car belongs to you until you sell it to ICBC.

Guys,
My car got towed to my house after the accident. It does run however I can't get the decklid open. The throttle cable broke shortly after and its not charging for some reason. That being said it is in ICBC's hands now. See the picture thread. The car is most definetly not a write off..
