Closing The Heating For Summer
« on: May 04, 2006, 12:28:53 PM »

I am planning to take a plug to the heating coming into the cabin (interior compartment.)

Now I can probably take the plastic tubes off and plug the in and out tubes under the back seat( to prevent water and other crap from getting inside. )

What should I do with the air coming out of the heating boxes, should I redirect them? I just assumed that hot air will be going into the fan and being recycled as hoter and hoter air. Does this makes sense?

Anyone has done this before?

What do you guys think?

I am assuming you have the valves wired open so remove the wires and it's all good. If the valves are not closing comepletely then remove the plastic hoses, the hot air is dumped on the road side of the front tin either way so if all your tin is sealing there won't be a problem.

The reason I asked is that all the VW Beetles and the Van I owned were in Hawaii and Puerto Rico. I never used the heat before this year.

Why not just move the heater lever to the off position?

bruce, damn amazing idea.

I guess my idea of cutting the floor boards out to get more airflow to counter the heat just wont cut in then.
