Hello,

A friend of mine has just bought a nice beetle that he plans to drive daily, but first would like to have it appraised. does anyone have a recommendation as to where he should go?

Just trying to be as helpful as you always are    Tell him it's worth 6 bucks, then tell him you'll give him seven fifty, then turn around and sell it for nine bucks.  Isn't that helpful?

I believe that a lot of local car auctions do appraisals.

I'm not a lot of help, but maybe that would narrow it down ..?

I'm surprized that people here havnt got their cars appraised. I would never drive a Classic car without having a set agreed value with ICBC. Otherwise your just asking to be screwed with.

hope someone chimes in with an appraiser!

I asked an insurance agent and she could not answer the question.

i had mine appraised i will see if i can find who did it.
for what it's worth as far as i know the appraisal is useless as i don't think ICBC has an agreed value.
you take your chanves on what they will give you.you might get a little barganing power but that is about it.

ICBC has an agreed value policy for Collector or special status cars. Really cheap insurance if your car is not worth a lot. Has to be stored in an enclosed area only you have access to. Unfortunatley It would have to be a secondary vehicle for collector status and couldn't be driven to work. Taking a lot of before pictures is reccomended. ICBC wasn't too bad with our last experience. Steve Young (in Langley) was great and seemed to have vision for our VW Thing. Onus will be on you to prove the value of your vehicle. Use Nada and Kelly Blue book guides etc. Also any collector sites. In the US there are VW enthusiast appraisers, but an appraisal doesn't really mean anything.
