New Project Bus
« on: December 16, 2003, 10:06:04 AM »
Since \"Speed E\" is taking a while i thought i'd fix up a van for a driver until spring when \"Speed E\" will be ready.
Gavin Lee of the DVKk found me a 1979 Pannel van that was used by Fruitopia as one of their advertising billboards.
The van as bought   not what you want to be driving in , at least not me.

below you can see all the decals that were put on just after it was painted.

When i bought the van i knew the decals were going to peel off some of the paint as the glue had bonded to the paint. The drivers side came off fairly well with only minor peeling, the pass side is another story! With heat gun in hand i went at it and soon found out how bad it was :o

This is not a big deal as i had planned to replace the sliding door as someone cut a window into it. The entire side of the van will need to be painted.

A fresh coat of silver on the wheels and a little spray bomb to hold it over till the next day...

Now it's time to sand out the pass side and swap to a orig door.

Here you can see that the van has a early westy interior.(with every nook and cranny filled with fruitopia boxes)

New door and a little mud...

a little more filler and tonight it should be painted!

Hmmmm, Im thinking the Fruitopia lettering really fits your lifestyle pretty well.  You should have kept it.
What are you going to letter on it now?  \"Gutwagen Racing\"?

Why do it once when you can do it thrice?

Tuesday night i spent a few hours sanding and priming the side of the bus.

The paint that was ordered came and was way off, we tried to tint it and get it close but there was no way it would work.
So the next day i ordered some new paint and it came and is closer but not perfect (not a big deal as this is just a driver)
Wed night i sprayed the van..

Thursday morning the masking came off and it's done! (for now)

You probably did see it up at UBC. Fruitopia used it for a bunch of promotions they did all last summer and fall...
