Where To Find A Good Rollin' Chassie

im looking to replace my entire chassie..i just wanna pull my body off,and roll a new rolling chassie under it,,anyone here know of a good place to get such a thing[any links].. or anyone here have a complete floor with a good frame head for sale,, lemme know..thanks,,,craig

talk to rustybus, he may have a good start of a pan for you, then you can replace the pan halves and frame head as required, then get it blasted, and send it to Russ for powdercoating!

If you find a pan that needs floorpan halves welded in, they are real easy to do with the body off. Your damaged frame head is why you are looking for a decent pan?

MATT,,,my frame head is rottin,,,and my pans have already been replaced[poorly]..so if im having to replace the frame head,,and redo the pans.. why not pull the body and just roll another chassie under her..i would need to lift the body off to do the frame head any ways ...right???     i would rather put my suspention and engine into something thats decent....its just a thought

I totally understand what your thinking.

Here's what I was thinkin...

A bulkhead is a big, tedious job. Floorpans are reletively easy. It makes sense to change pans, but finding a pan that doesn't have rusty floors may be a challenge, and finding one with a solid bulkhead and rusty pan halves shouldn't be too hard. If the body is going to be off the pan (which of course it would be) pan halves are an easy rust repair job to tackle. I hope I make sense, it sounds logical in my head but I usually have a hard time typing my thoughts.

There is a clean pan in Seattle on The Samba. That's what I did to replace my worn out/twisted/rusted junk pan on my 67. The pan I bought came from Oregon and is cleaner than anything I've dealt with north of the border. A pan can be imported as a 'dismantled' status. Well worth the minimal hassle.

The frame head is the front of the tunnel on your pan that your beam bolts to

by the way guys...is a 66-67 front apron/spare tire[ inner] area the same as a '68..and will 66-67 fenders bolt onto a '68... :blush:

The 68 and up front apron is different than the 66-67 you described. 68 and up use the later  bumpers etc. The fenders will bolt on but won't have any slots for the bumper brackets.
