I agree - a few more NDP and a few a lot less Liberals would have been nice!

Truth be told when Mulroney was in power politics was probably the farthest thing away in my mind(matchbox cars were probably up there though in importance and pointing out Rabbits in parking lots). But I didn't go out and vote blindly. I'm just hoping that our dollar doesn't start going down till May...

And to think that Harper said that Mulroney was THE BEST Prime Minister this country ever had. Does that tell you what were in for or what?!

did you know that your government paid 2.5 million dollars in 2004 on royalty fees for the bar and maple leaf symbol that they (we) already  own since 1985???

Not to mention the 22.2 Billion they spent in one week.  I think it was money well spent, they bought enough votes to keep them in the hunt.

What about the Income Trust scam?  Liberals said they wanted to change Income Trusts (lead to a nice 20% drop accross the board) then right before the election they announce, 'PSYCHE! We're not doing anything.'

Oh wait, not before they tipped off their buddies on the inside.  The RCMP and securities (TSX) is investigating the situation and the Liberal party involvement.

Oh yeah, Conservatives have been running Alberta forever and we're doing just fine thanks.  Debt free, AAA+ credit rating, booming economy etc etc.  That's true it's oil related, but Sask/BC also have a ton of resources but government meddling has put both provinces decades behind in business development.  Want to have a look at the future of Canada's economy if Conservatives were in power?

Look at Alberta.  Actually, it doesn't bother me if the rest of the country keeps voting red/yellow/green/the other blue, as long as we keep rolling in the cash.  (Oh yeah, we're all going to be getting $400/after taxes EACH in a few weeks).  Thanks to those lousy Conservatives.  :)

Ha!  A monkey could run Alberta and still have a budget surplus every year.  Come to think about it, you do have a monkey running it.

Point being campbell or Mulroney its still conservative..
How bout the huge deficit after Mulroney?
How about how awful the Canadian dollar was 12 years ago...?

8 Balanced budgets in 8 years is damn good.

All of Canadian government is corrupt and at least Martin turned over the papers when he was asked.. Is it really that bad?

Overall I voted based off of what I believed and how I read the parties agenda's. Finally the big turning point for me was who would I rather have representing and rubbing shoulders.... And sorry Harper just didn't cut it...

So how long do you figure till we start sending troops to Iraq?

Uh, where have you been?  Canada already has troops in Iraq.  I think I'm starting to understand why people continue to vote Liberal now.

It's like when Bush got re-elected.  I thought, 'how could American's be such morons, the writing is on the wall!'.   Well, this election, I saw first hand how Bush got re-elected.

Both Canadians and Americans can't seem to figure it out.

Voting for for people and parties based on platforms and ideals is like believing in the tooth fairy.  All you have to do is look at history to see that it is all crap.

If we voted that way, the NDP or Green party would have been in government a long time ago.  The fact is that people are sheep when it comes to believing and spouting ideals.  It all sounds nice, but it doesn't mean dick.

We have a lot of challenges to deal with in this country.  What we need is a leader that will get things done and try to get some of the things fixed that are broken.  Once that is done, then go on to new programs.

Anyone who believes and embelishes promises made before an election are merely part of the problem.

We need to convince our politicians to encourage business to invest in training, not rely on immigration to build our expertise.  That is why there are so many skilled immigrants driving cab. Wow...that program is really working!

Politicians need to revamp the civil service.  Case in point.  Campbell made cuts in the amounts of money going into the ministry in charge of seniors, with the directive to make it as painless as possible.  The civil service chose to cut funding for nursing homes, throwing old people out of homes which  caused a big public uproar.  By the time the ministry set it right, the damage was done.  I am not defending Campbell, it is just the way the game is played.  There are a lot of unelected government officials that have way too much power.  And canning them costs an arm and a leg.

Get the health care system under some form of control.  Even if that means a token user fee, or penalties for those that run to the clinic when they get a cold.

If I new all the answers I would run for office.  But those who do shouldn't be abusing the public.

I have a simple rule.  You lie to me or steal my money, you are gone.  I don't care what your politics are, or how bad the other guy looks.

Think about it...you want to re-elect the red criminal because the red guy says that the blue guy is worse???  WTF???  Oh...you mean you actually believe the red guy now?

Throw the assholes out that steal from us. and hold the guys in power accountable.  They get out of control, throw them out.

The  best thing that ever happenned to the NDP in BC is that they got virtually annihilated after 10 years of dismal government.  It was a message from the people.  I hope they got it.

Unfortunately, Ontario doesn't get it, can you say Belinda Stronach??? WTF is that?

These are looney times in the republic, for sure.
