thats why they have created the e-thug private access forum, it has limited access, if you have young kids maybe you should log out of this site to prevent them seeing things you dont want them to...

Come on guys, smarten up.  Don't tell people to go somewhere else, they are here for VW's not to listen to your smart ass comments.  We would like to keep most of the forums as clean as we can and have the \"Hot Topic's\" in the E-thug area.  We can't make it 100% clean  for kid's as 99% who come here are adults.

bochintz, It would be good to maybe oversee what your kid's could be veiwing here. Sometimes things can get out of hand on threads just like any forum on the web.

Don't let them scare you off. Thanks for posting your thoughts.

Geoff,
Is there anyway you could stop the topics of the E-thug forum coming up on the opening page of airspeedparts.com? That way only those who are in the forum could actually see and therefore its\"Hidden\" and it would make it a \"safer\" environment...
Just an idea..

I am so totally with ya . It's the avatar's and sig's .  It's exactly why I wont come here while my kids are around or show my 9 year old son , (who's into VW's even more than I am)  any of the really cool good stuff that gets posted here.  But , nothing I can do about it , ......I'll just keep hoping people will eventually turn their energies to more positive things :)   Meanwhile , there are other sites.

We have an awesome VW site with a PG rating (Superbeetlesonly.com). That being said it also takes about 12 moderators to police the site and remove/edit the posts that are offensive. The rules for posting are listed and offenders are PM'ed politely and reminded not to (swear/flame/bigot/gay bash/etc/etc) We have only had to ban 1 person in the last few years that didn't want to play by the rules.
It is your choice to have the Forums on Airspeeds site, but I don't think your intention is to have the forums reflect badly on the company by having foul language, trash talkin', and flame wars filling the pages.
As someone who has recently found out about the Airspeed store, I signed up for the forums to see how things were handled and how interactive the business was with the forums.

I was about to E-thug this post but in the interest of Airspeed and it's forum I will refrain.  bochintz, if you aren't watching you pre teens online who is?  God bless them if this is the site they choose to browse.  Heck, give them a pat on the back.  When I think of the Un monitored sites that they COULD be looking at.....  A few miss placed words ( guilty as charged.  although I can't think of when or what.  I will always use ##*&& in place) which, by the most part, are by people in the similar situation.  I have children too who view this site.  I do however sit with them WHENEVER they are online.  I can't help but think that you are the guilty one not us.  An open forum such as this, is just that, OPEN.  It is moderated as mentioned.  The fact that you said anything may perhaps help and I thank you for that.  Just for the record... what child under the age of 12 is interested in the ramblings in the lounge?  They look at the pictures and that's about it.  It's you that is offended so don't read it out loud.

It was not my intent to prevent you from viewing this site.  I love this site and the information that is relayed here.  Just this week they added the \"e-thugs lounge\".  Kick back and let the children be.  My son is always on my lap when I look at this site.  I may have to explain Steiners signature....lol but for the most part is good, clean, VW's.  My first car was a Beetle and it is my intent that his is as well.  The more he learns from the GOOD!!!!!! guys on this site the better off he will be.  My daughter will be the same.

Its obvious that Airspeed saw a need to seperate the forums, they politely asked that people keep the bs to the e-thug cage match, this is a password protected area, it is now up to the user to manage there viewing, im sure that the regulars to this site will be very good about keeping things clean, it is however the internet, a publicly accessible forum that is difficult to police, obvious offenders will be dealt with accordingly im sure.

Keep it clean or duke it out in the e-thug forum, thanks everyone!

This site has done nothing but unite a VW community from Vancouver to Calgary. I do agree that some things get out of hand, but there is no one here that wouldn't help another fellow ASF member. Heck, I am sure you could even find a few that would help out Sir Jakub if he was in a pinch. Geoff and crew have done a good job at reminding those to watch their pees and q's when things get out of hand and I believe besides a mild ribbing from the boys, his wishes have been respected.

Yes the internet is something that your kids should be monitored on. The members of this site have given of themselves, to each other and also people from outside this community ( Christmas hamper for example). I think these are the things that your children should be told about. Lets remember that when it comes right down to it, the people of this community are caring, and quite selfless people. The rest is fun and games. We all love to give and recieve a good ribbing.

As long as I am in business, AS will get 100% of my VW parts orders. They show they care and strive to get the customers what they NEED and not what they WANT. They are not just 9-5 VW guys, they eat, sleep and breathe VW. Well done G, Jim and crew for making this community what it is.
WELL DONE!!!

i understand wat u guys are talking about, and i did think of the profanity, wat i didnt realize is the headline appearing on the home page, i thought it wouldnt show the title topic, but i could not change it , i did not mean to offend anyone,,    maybe the titles should not be viewable till you are in the forum, it is supposed to be protected,

pees
HaHa You said pee.....
You know when the first person responded with thier opportunity to make this a family site.. I posted what I posted about watching your kids...
However when Hans posted about his son who is 9..... That is where it made me think, I know Hans son very well, actually he often tells his dad that he want a car like mine. This young fella, Knows more about VW's at 9 than most of us know now..... And for that I would not want to see him not be able to learn even more.... So that being said.... You will never see my avatar or my signature be R rated....

This one is for you Kev, Cuz one day I know your gonna show up at thet track with your car and beat us all!!!

If you have specific concerns about profinity or the site content, please let us know.
I think I can speak for Geoff & Jim when I say AirSpeed wants the site and the forums to be as comfortable as possible for everyone.

I have many options available to accomplish this. I can remove forum topics from the home page, I can install profanity filters, and step up the moderation of the forum content. At this time, I don't \"censor' the forums at all. However, I will do so if specifically directed. So if you have an opinion, please PM Geoff.

I would suggest that you look at making the e-thuging forum private as in member restricted access instead of passworded access, that way only people with access will see the topics, etc. You can then post when a thread has been moved to that forum and to contact the forum admins for access to the thread, just a thought.

its all about a little give and take, in everything that goes on here, we have to promote a good environment for the kids to gain knowledge and interest in this addiction otherwise were just going to look like a bunch of crazy old men...

well this has definitely sparked a little fire
i hope you get a slap on the wrist kit,
and i know that the folks at Airspeed work hard
so keep up the good work and for the record it's only been once
that i've seen such on this site, it just shocked me to see it on the home page
as it might to see it in hot vws or any other car mag.
so i quess all that i can ask for is a little closer monitoring and don't forget the kids
thanks
Bochintz
