Am I the only one that can't get a password for Ethug. I guess I'm just going to have to continue to bitch at people in the regular forum.

How many people on this forum. Do all the welding, bodywork ,paint, upholstery, build motor and suspension with there own two hands.
If any of yall are out there. Step up to the plate. We'll see how many cars  cool cars we can crank out in a year!I'm not talkin about magazine cars. I'm just talkin about cars with nice paint and are real lookers. If I wanted to I could take 2 or 3 years on one car and spend lot's of money on it. Or perhaps send it out to ten different shops.Get it in a magazine with a cool pic of myself and thank half the world for helping me build it.
I think I'll just stick to low budget lookers that I can take pride in because I put blood sweat and tears into it.

When I am driving my latest ride to Kelly Park this year and you are sitting at home because your ride is still floorless don't whine to me!

I agree with Ehos, but I try not to do a ton of projects at once. I have a hard enough time concentrating on one. ^_^

Once the snow falls, all bets are off :)
But, I did get the garage heated and insulated so I will be making progress on the Split.   It looks exactly the same as before, but a bit more dusty.

And parked next to the sexiest car ever made....

I do as much as I can myself. I hate bodywork and suck at it so i always try and sucker someone into doing it  BUT I have done my share.

I built my first car from the ground up at 17.
1964 sunroof, motor, body, paint, lowered plus interior with the help of my Brother.

I did the body (some body work help from a friend)and paint on my Oval, thats not saying much but I did do it. Notchback is still recovering from being in the make shift booth.

Lanny did the body and paint on the red 59.

Porsche bus, Matt did the most of the body on that. I did the inners and all the welding.

The 95 Caprice, I did all the inners  base clear then sent it out for the body spray.

I'd love to do more of the painting but it's finding a place to do it without killing the neighbours.

I'll have to dig up some pic's of some of the cars.

Heb.

I trust very few people with my cars. I'm a J ticket tech and my brother owns his own bodyshop so there isn't too much that we don't tackle ourselves. However I'm almost useless when it comes to PC's so posting pics on forums isn't my forte. If you saw last months feature car, that one was done by both of us, and painted in the garage at home. The oval will be the same, but of a higher cailiber when done.

The only problem wuth painting in the garage is that the temp, tip, and reducers have to be perfect. In many cases I have had to wetsand for weeks. I have only done the two cars that I did not have to wetsand. I HATE[/size]wetsanding. When I paint this car I am not painting it until I test, test and test again! I'd rather test than spend weeks on sanding and buying sandpaper and polishing compounds. I tell you one thing though. If you've spent six months on welding and bodywork and the paint ends up looking good.It is the greatest feeling in the world. Then the fun stuff begins with putting it together. The only thing I haven't had a lot of experience with is motors. I built one this year and it worked out really well. Along with 4 books and a retard video I did the job! Next will be my 1914 with a turbo. I hope to kick some ass with that engine. All you guys that talk motor all day long. Aaron will come out of no where and smoke your asses for lunch.I will do this! That's a threat! I will hopefully get it going at the end of summer. Maybe the Great Canadian! We'll see how many cars I can get rid of. I need the cash for that project. Even though I will try to make it as low budget as possible!

By the way I have no problem with people that don't do everything themselves I just want to see who's out there that has skill. My buddies always bug me! SO WHEN IS YOUR CAR GOING TO BE DONE?NEVER.
Meanwhile their car is still sitting at home under a cover. SO I take a while to complete a car!I am picky. If I see something that doesn't look right I fix it.And I'll keep on it until it looks right. That's why the car I'm working on right now is taking soooooo damn long!

Well I am 37 and I know absouloutly jack shit about vw, only been in the scene about three years, I havent got a garage so that doesnt help much and time is pretty slim what with the kids and job, ya know the story. My mates are,nt into VW at all so there friggin worse than me, but I do have admiration for anyone who does all or some of there work, when we get to Canada I plan on buying a running wreck and just taking to pieces and find out as much as I can, pratical always works better for me than theory.

It's rolling,, but not under it's own power. ^_^
Wouldn't take too much to just get it driving, but I'm collecting the proper parts, and want to do it right the first time. Besides rolling a rat ride around here will land you with an inspection ticket, or worse yet in the police compound. I can send some pics to you on your email if you wish.
