ok well i finally found a place to store/work on my beetle so my restoration begins next week.

and ive been spending the last few months with my watercooled vw :mellow:

so i have some questions

im going to do a disk brake conversion front and rear on my 1960 beetle.

the key is that im converting it to 4 lug.

so from this list which brake set-up do i want.

Why 4 bolt?

its cheaper for one and im going to be running 4 bolt sprint stars.

im not one to switch wheels every season so i figure whats the point of running adapters when i can just run 4 bolt.

IC - in that case find some Ghia front disks and if your going rear as well then look into aftermarket - Airspeed carries them as well, and you'll get better support that way.

i dont know where im going to purchase from ... im useing cip links because they have a great website will lots of pix/prices .... but not really any info on the actual parts. what im trying to do is price out what the major items will cost me for the resto.

im not going to cut any corners on this car and if i dont have the money to do something right then im going to let the car sit till i get the money .... i just want to do things smartly and not waste money if i dont have to.

I agree with James...twice.
If you are going 4 bolt the ghia front discs are an easy swap.
If you want rear discs go to Airspeed and talk to Geoff and Jim. Why rely on website pictures when you can go to an actual store and see the parts and get answers from knowledgable people first hand before handing over the cash. Just makes sense to me.

Thanks James & Bill, We stock all the disc brakes CIP has and at the same price when comparing apples to apples. Be warned that the kits they sell are not the same as others out there. The disc kits using ghia spindles do not come with backing plates as ours do. We can sell you a kit without but they do help with breaking in the wet. The droped spindle kits run without backing plates and push the wheels out 1/2 or more per side. You need to know all the in's and out's of this before you make a decision. How wide are the front wheels? what offset? if you run dropped spindles you may need a narrowed beam IF you dont want the tires to rub.

Feel free to drop by and ask us any questions you like, we can show you all the kits and options including rear brakes, with steel or alum brackets and with or without e brake, 4x130 stock pattern 5x130 and 5x205 for those who would like other bolt patterns.
