Hello all - Thought I would post this here prior to it hitting the papers:

I am currently looking for a person to fill the role of a Contract Safety Officer.
Short list of requirements:
- Needs to be physically fit.
- Ok with Heights,Confined Spaces, Working over water.
- Must possess a minimum of a Level 2 OFA, Level 3 Preferred.
- Previous experience preferred but not necessary.

The position is at the Vancouver Shipyard working directly with me. On the job training is provided as the role of a marine safety officer is quite different than most jobs out there. We are classed as heavy industry and has the types of hazards that are associated with that so the candidate should be prepared for some demanding situations.
The candidate will assume a key role in different facets of my department including ERT (Emergency Response Team Member) Hazard/Site/Vessel Survey's, Hotwork, Confined Space Entry and Work, Working at heights and the list goes on...

If this sounds like something you would be interested in challenging or know someone please send your resume with cover letter to jbuchan@seaspan.com - I will respond to all inquires but only suitable candidates will be contacted for interviews.

James

Yes we are located in North Vancouver - this particular yard is on the foot of Pemberton, but we also own the one next door to the SeaBus Terminal.

It is a contract position that has a very good chance of turning into a staff position. No Benefits as a Contractor but you get the write-offs.
