Goals For The 2006 Season/summer
« on: November 11, 2005, 07:27:52 PM »
After years of wrenching on cars here and there. I realized that the total time I've had an aircooled vw insured is about 2 months over a period of 10 years.

For me, this summer will be different. I want to build a car that is drivable and is insured throuhgout the summer to enjoy. Not something thrown together over night to drive on the \"show\" weekend. A car that I can use day to day all spring/summer long.

Dont know why I decided to share this. What's everyone's plan for 2006?

Cheers
Mike

Try not to do everything felt to rushed last summer .Will try to get a few more body panels straightened out and start to plan out tranny suspension choice  :) .Also collect window rubber for eventual paint job B)  . Of course insert two girls and a wife into that equation

I hear ya Mike!

I've had my 66 for almost 6 years and have drove it less than 500Km's!

I want to have it ready for early spring and then enjoy the year instead of the mad rush to get ready for our show in June.

I'm shootin for both projects next year. First and formost is the 911 powered notch that has seen all of my free time lately, then I want to build the 2275 I have in pieces and drop it in the 67 for the season. The bug won't be pretty by any means this year but it will be good enough for the track.

Drive the '52 at least 1000 KM's ;)

Not ACVW related, but drive the FD at least 10,000+KM's and finally the CBR around 100 KM's would be nice (it's a track bike).

Jamie: Hans is laughing because he has promised me first dibs. So you'll have to wait.

I am with Mike. I am tired of not driving an aircooled. I have worked on them for years but when they are fixed up I find it is like having a pretty girl.......everybody wants her. So I sell them. WOuld like an aircooled for the season next year.

My goals are similar's to Mikes. I'd like to have my car on the road and done somewhat. Accessorized slightly and well the rest of it regarding the suspension/ rim/shoe combo is up to the air.

Other car projects... Get the Model A done and into paint...

Then strip the 2002 and start cutting the sheetmetal and then drop in that striaght 6!
If more power is better. Then too much is just enough.
Why do it once when you can do it thrice?

Well depends where we are, if were here then I'II run the bug and try and smarten the interior up, headliner, tacho etc.
If were there then who knows I'd like to buy a wreck and strip it down, teach myself as much as I can and learn from you guys as well????.

Unless I end up Swapping it for a 67-71 1600 dp, I plan to do the two rear quarter panels on my daily driven 64. I also have to take care of my leak under the engine. Luckily I inspected my mounts and they are good. The noise is coming from my rear bumper. There are about a million things I dream of doing to it. Then I wake up and realize that I have to fund those things.

Thanks for the topic suggestion; when you put it in writing with a time frame it becomes a goal.

Obviously my first goal is world domination , but I'd settle for gettin project 67 done ,it's only been 6 years & $500 ;)  to get this far .I've never even driven it cos  it was a pile of parts &I haven't had an aircooled car insured &driving since my 61 deluxe bus 15 years ago ..........boy does time fly!

Get the new belly under Waldo, 12 Volt him, and drive him as is.  That's the realistic goal.  I'd like to do alot more this coming year but as per other comments that would require funds not currently accounted for.
