My bug has had fuel problems, where the beam was narrowed they narrowed the fuel tank as well and done a real botch job on welding the tank back together, bits keep flaking off and blocking the fuel line, the tank has been taken off, flushed to remove the crap, but I am not convinced it will stop it happening, short of installing a new tank, which is going to be hard to find anyway, I dont know what other route to go down, anyone got any ideas.

What's flaking the interior coating? If so take the tank out and drain the fuel. Gas free it with some type of degreaser ( I like citraclean ) throw some chain in there (small linked) and shake the living crap outta it. Now rinsie it out and dry it real well (gas free'd already so don't be afraid of a little heat) now recoat the tank with a something like POR (they have a tank treatment) or take it to a Radiator shop and have it done proffesionally.

I had the gas tank for my type 3 redone by Leakers. They used to be in Langley but the owner downsized his operation to a shop in behind his house on 264th in Aldergrove near the border.
I originally dropped the tank off with him to sandblast inside and out. Then took it to the powercoaters to finish the outside in semi gloss black. Tank then went back to leakers to have the inside coated.
Cost:
Leakers $120
Powdercoat $30.00
Not bad for basically a brand new tank. I'm sure leakers can repair your welding problems for a reasonable price as well. The number I have for them is
604 530 6880 from the white pages but I'm sure it has changed so you may have to call 411.

Bill Hirsch has a gas tank treatment kit that etches & then seals the inside of the tank.There should be a hot rod or vintage resto shop that supplies it .The stuff works &it's about $50.00 cdn

How about getting another fuel tank and having it professionally narrowed
