well, it's home.
i had a friend drive me down to seattle yesterday to pick up the 64. stopped at a gas station close to the sellers house to check the oil and fill it up with gas, checked plugs, wires and fuel line and belt, and checked the air in the tires and we were on our way. we stopped a little over half way to the border to make sure all was well. it was. continued on. it ran well at about 65-70 mph. my buddy had to go to work so he crossed at the truck crossing and i continued on to the sumas crossing.
us customs was quick. 15 minutes to check the vin and stamp the papers and i was on my way.
lots of paperwork and a couple of hours at canada customs, and i was driving into canada.
one word of advice i have to anyone importing a vehicle is to claim the correct amount paid for said vehicle. i didnt and i absolutely should have. the inspector at the border was quite understanding, considering the situation, and it has now all been taken care of, but it was not fun.
so take a copy of an email with a price negotiation or a copy of the add. it's only one extra peice of paper. this aswell as the bill of sale will make the whole process alot easier and smoother.
i'm not embarrased to share with you all the repercutions of my actions. i learn from my mistakes. and hopefully this will help someone in the future.
the car is now parked safely at work and i will begin to go over it so it can get the safety inspection and get it insured so i can drive it and enjoy it.
stay tuned for pics in the members cars forum. B)
