It's Done!
« on: September 20, 2005, 06:30:24 PM »
picpicWell it's been a pretty hard 10 months for me....but finally I got some paint on it. It's all done except the fenders...i'm still looking for early German rear fenders. Anyway, over all I'm very happy with how it turned out. I spent about 3.5 hours just spraying the car....4 coats of base and 3 coats of clear.  I'll hopefully get her back home on Thursday and then maybe sit it back on the pan in a couple weeks...after that i'm taking a couple months off from it. Here are some pics.picpicpicpicpicpic

That can't be a production shop! Training center? Looks like a medical lab. Nice job. Color sand?

Sometimes I get the feeling the whole world is against me, but deep down I know that's not true. Some smaller countries are neutral.

Hey thanks guys!
I'm pretty happy with the job. The flat surfaces turned out real sweet so I will probably only do a few de-nibs there. The sides also turned out nice but I will color sand them just to make them that extra little bit nicer!
As for the facility... It's the Akzo Nobel training center (Sikkens and Lesonal paint). It's quiet an amazing place....tiled floors, crossdraft prep stations, vacuum sanders, two booths... one downdraft and a semi-downdraft,two mixing systems and enough paint to make any car buff cry! Ian came out and dropped off my hood on Monday and I think he was quiet suprised! The sad part about it is that its basically used only as a training center and I'm actually lucky to have painted my own car there this week as one of the classes had been cancelled.
