As awful as the human tragedy is down south right now, we shouldn't forget about the animals, either. I made a donation to the Humane Society to help aid in animal rescue after Katrina. I have an 11 year old Husky shepard and would have been devastated to have to leave him after he survived the storm only to have the rescueres say he had to stay behind  (I know why though ) just would tear me up .I hope Bush who has the means steps up . Does it good right to the end 2 or 3 years from now and that it just doesn,t fall of the front page and his emidiate priorities .Although this disater and Iraq will go down with bush's legacy  ]

All the news footage from Katrina is horrifying but yesterday I saw three dogs on a roof obviously starving and traumatized - broke my heart.  Its a terrible thing and when you see the babies and (I am an animal lover) stranded animals -    - very very sad!
