So when does she sign up for Canadian idol?

Seriously though she's really good and my only qualification to say this is that my SO is a hardcore musical/choir person.
If more power is better. Then too much is just enough.
Why do it once when you can do it thrice?

Well, she is way too young for CI, and she has said she does not want to be a Canadian Idol,
She is 12, she wrote, played guitar(which she has only done for 2 months) sang and did the background vocals on this.
Being her Dad I am a little opinionated about it and was just looking for feedback without telling who she was.Moni :P

oops. sorry.

all bias aside, shane, i get a buttload of CDs at work to review for our A&E section. if this landed on my desk and i had to do a review, i would have trouble coming up with negative things to say. the piano is absolutely PHENOMENAL, the lyrics are quite mature -- not even taking into account her age, as they're a great deal more introspective than hillary/brittany/etc/ad nauseum... -- the guitar is sparingly used like an expensive spice; she only needed a little bit to compliment the piano, but the end result was a song with a lot of flavour. at times with her singing, you can't tell how young she is, as she employs a lot of patience in her vocals, which is extraordinary given her age/experience. the only time you can detect her youth is in her range... at the begining of the song, it sounds like she's holding back somewhat, and that's keeping her from really exploring those lower octaves. but as you get into the piece, and she goes higher, there was a noticeable difference in comfort/confidence and corresponding opening up of her mid- to high-range -- which was fantastic. i think some experience and maybe one or two voice lessons to hone that lovely voice of hers would help to calm those nerves a bit. overall, it was a treat to listen to; good toe-tapping rhythm and excellent balance. you'd be amazed at the crap that makes it to my desk.... but my favourite stuff is always the singer-songwriters/bands that are classically trained, who have that ear, know all \"the rules\" and bend them slightly in creating not only a piece that's musically bang-on, but esthetically pleasing.

so there you go. you can tell her she got a thumbs up from a real-life music reviewer.

Wow,
What a great review. She will be pleased to read this as she does not want to be a Hillary,Britanny, and an Avril, (as she heard her Live) Anika has done voice for about a year now, But what she is learning is more along the way of Broadway. show styles, So to hear this was a treat for me, She has a very good upper registar, She has written a few other songs that show she is wise beyond her years..
Well thanks again for the review... My goal for her is to love music and just kepp playin, That is all I ask from both my girls.. ;)

Yup it was her,
She was pretty amazed to hear the story Willy told about Chris' website and then when Larry said\" She's gonna be a star\"  She was pretty proud, as I must say I was also.
Thanks for the Idea Russ, Best $150 I have ever spent... Giving Anika a Memory for life.

WOW! Do your girls realize you could possibly be the coolest Dad around? B)

I sure hope so. That is one story Anika will tell forever. Just think, one day your grandchildren will hear all about this and think, \"Grandad? Really? Hmp, who woulda guessed he could be so much fun? ;) \"

\"Did he ever take you to Vegas for a VW show? \" cause THAT would've been cool :P

But anyways, good work! This is the stuff that makes them proud to share the genes.

Russ we never told her about it and Amanda had the radio on and they said \" Coming up next 12yr old Anika Constant\" and Mykala said\" I think they just said Anika was next\" Amanda said\" NO Mac your on drugs\"  And then it came on. and they said Chris' website was mine so the Joke is that she is his daughter now.

You are soooooo funny!!! Vegas?  With the girls?  NO WAY!

I think the girls do realize what an amazing dad they have, Anika was quite thrilled to hear it on the radio.

BTW, Russ I did tape the whole thing, I think I even got the lead up to it when they talk about Chris' website and call him her Dad.

Thanks everyone for the wonderful comments, Anika's head is 'swelling' at the moment, I don't think she'll be able to get out the door tomorrow...
