Engine Tarboard Suggestions
« on: June 09, 2005, 05:29:39 AM »
Hey guys, i request your opinion/experience

I am looking to make the engine compartment look as original as possible in my 1967 bug and i am having difficulty finding a good looking engine compartment tarboard.  I have tried to install the \"best\" quality tarboard the CIP sells on two different occasions, both times with poor results.  The tarboard still always looks \"bubble-ey\" nor does it even have the same texture as the original.  Does anyone have any suggestions- does Wolfsburg West or West Coast Metric supply a nicer, more original looking, better fitting tarboard kit?  please advise

Best bet to having the most original stuff is to make your own. Seriously. Go to the hardware store and try and find roofing sheet/ tar sheet without the gravel on both sides if possible. And then make templates and then cut it out and tape it to the original thickness. This is where keeping the old ones help out.....
And I agree nobody makes a decent repro that looks anybit correct.

If more power is better. Then too much is just enough.
Why do it once when you can do it thrice?
