Did Anyone Go To....
« on: May 26, 2005, 11:10:02 PM »
Last weekend in Kelowna? Anyone?

Did you know this event has been going for 40 plus years
and that has been dominated lately by an aircooled vw powered
open wheeled mid engine race car. I assume at least 2332cc ,  turbo
in a car that I'm sure can not be more than 1000lbs. I've seen it run
there many years ago when it was still super charged. Absolutely supid scary fast. I hear it's even faster now that it's turbo'd.
Not sure if he ran it this year. Not sure if there's anything on the internet
about it.  Guess you just have to go there next year.  Or maybe some of the local sloloms , it's a locally owed and built car.

I have been going for the last few years.  The owner of the car is a good friend of mine.  The old motor that used to be in that car was the motor that I put into my 1966 beetle, which was also the record holding motor in that car for about 5 years at knox.

currently it is a 2387 cc turbo'd, intercooled, injected, watercooled/aircooled motor combo.

the car dyno'd at 320 whp last spring.

Did you go this year?  Did he run?  How does the water/air cooled bit work?  Can you tell us if or when he'll be running locally? Is there any detailed info on the net about this car ?
I'd say you are very lucky to know him so well. Seems like a super nice gentleman and a genius too.
It's a good friend of mine that has his old buggy. Small world eh. ;)  I think he's a member here too , maybe he'll actually post ;)

Sounds cool. I'd like to see that buggy go...sounds like it would really cook.
I have a friend that took his turbo CRX iceracer out to that race a couple years ago, and he did quite well with it too.
Sure would like to try my hand at that race behind the wheel of my rocco one day.

The Champaign coloured mustang is a friend of ours. Oliver's done extremely well for a virtually stock motor with suspension work that our shops done to it. Maximum Motorsports has unreal products for the fox body 5.0L's. Kumho Victor racers made that car stick to the ground.

The red trans am belongs to cambell which is another vancouverite. He came in second but his roller lifter guide decided to snap and his roller cam spun and bend a pushrod in this brand new motor.

Hey Alan , why not adapt the 65 into a hill climb car?
