Trouble @ Java Hut
« on: May 13, 2005, 05:26:20 PM »
Just came by the Java Hut on my way home. Big signs at the entrance(s) \" Private Property - Classic cars strictly prohibited\". Security guards walking around. RCMP there already - taking down information on the few rods that were there. A small group of car guys gathered around the Java Hut eyeing the cop. I think it has the potential for quite an exciting night ( depending on your definition of excitement ). !!

It was bound to happen - it gets pretty crazy there as people leave, it's a small wonder that nothing bad has happened (except for that one person hit running across the bypass by a non-rod)

Just means a new hangout will start - maybe back to Mr.Hamburger?

Ok so I went down there and was able to snap a few pics, then I had some of the 8 security guards decide I couldnt do that so I had to go Kung Fu on them , I managed to to take out 5 of them and then there was a girl, and well you cant hit a girl and that was it I was done for, so anyway it looks like you can go down there at this point but you pull any stunts and your gonna get a fat ticket!

Apparently mini-vans are ok so the DVKK can go to the Java Hut :P

I'll go anywhere but mr. hamburger.     I'm sure some people will agree with me on that. and they know why.

Rodeo drive in would be awsome, but the only problem there is limited parking.

So is anyone going there tonight? Was planning on making the trip out from the big city, but I don't like hanging with cops. Is anything else happening in the burbs tonight?

you should see the pavement at the entrance, there are 6 ft long gouges almost 1/2 inch deep all over the place from the burnouts

When blueberry stated the signs said \"Classic Cars Prohibited\", I chuckled and thought yeah right. What kind of f'ing idoit makes up a sign like that? Im glad our police force has time to enforce this, when 50% of my neighbours are slanging crack!

What a joke! Something to bitch about drunk tomorrow night

Not trying to be the devils advocate, but come on, we all saw this coming. That place was a gong show as soon as dusk settled till the cops showed up. I bet the surrounding business' and the RCMP wouldn't have a problem with weekend gatherings at the Java Hut if people layed off the brake stands, and just went there to bullshit with fellow car buffs.

Cause brake stands are so terrible, in the middle of a industrial area at 10:00PM on a friday? Give me break

I wouldn't call the Langley by-pass an industrial area, it's still a pretty busy highway even at 10:00pm.

How much do you figure it would cost to re-pave the entrance of the parking lot, and the by-pass road in front of the Java-hut?? and how many guys doing burnouts ripping the ashphalt up,  would pony-up the repair bills?

I will admit there are some idiots there, I don't think it is too safe with crowds of people surrounding a car that is doing a brakestand, I am surprised no one has been hurt with the way some guys drive and whip through that parking lot.

just my thoughts

About the only place I can think of close by that is big enough is the college across from the twin ice rink on the other end of the bypass. Shane probably still has some coffee equipment left - put it in a trailer and set up a concession to pay for his engines!!! Lots of room - no neighbours really close. I think the burnouts and brake stands are going to shut it down every time wherever it is though

I give a year or so until the Java hut goes under - it was a ghost town there prior to it becoming the hang-out.

The signs should read \"Classic cars welcome. Late model, pieces of shit stay the fuck out!\"
Sorry for the profanity but there is no other way to say it. Before about 8:30 it's a pretty mellow scene there usually. Just a bunch of classics, rods and customs and a bunch of people hanging out shooting the shit and checking out cars. Later in the evening when the idots in their mom's K car show up and start lighting them up is when the trouble starts.

the college is a good idea.. i live right by the airport and its usually not bad in that area at all.. and it is far away from houses and people that might complain... that would be a good spot

I think the new spot would need to have some sort of venue as a draw - food, bathrooms etc... Matt heard that the new Mopac might be a new hangout - timmies going in right across the street....

well I just cruised by about 20 minutes ago, not too bad, there were cars and people milling about, rcmp still there, I think its just a deterent, act like and idiot get a fat ticket, keep it cool and you can stay, they cant refuse access to patrons of the Java Hut, but once its closed, the chains go up.

Well, all good things come to an end I guess.  A few idiots ruined it for the majority of the good.  It was a great venue and a real shame that it had to go this way.  I also have to agree with Matt. I am suprised that something more serious didn't happen.

Hopefully another location can be found for the enthusiasts- minus the idiots.
