Anybody Live(or Has Lived) In Kelowna?
« on: May 11, 2005, 06:51:36 AM »
Hey guys,
Trying to figure out where I'm going next September. Pretty much I have the choice of coming back and going to the local colleges, Living at home so on and so forth. Or moving to Kelowna and going to the brand new UBC campus. So for those who have lived in Kelowna or have lived in the interior what is it like? What did you think of it?
Somebody help me figure out what to do with the rest of my life! :P
Or somebodys going to get Larry Campbell to ban me from the city...

From Salmon arm it is a nice place to shop and thats it .Oh yeah they have a bowwow store WHEEEE! Just think of kelowna as a huge strip of kinsway packed like rush hour all the time .drug addicts ,prostitues , vagrants passing through .same minorities ratio basically a fast growing MINI Vancouver nice weather in the summer but busy and cold slippery winters . Only 4 hours from the coast but connecter, and cohquihlla  bad in winter. check rent out to I dont think its that cheap and out of town can be sketchy . Come stay a weekend in Salmon arm and we can run down for the day if you want when you come back .I might be biased as I left Vancouver to get away from big city crap . Just my 2cents though

Outkast thanks for your input,
Definetly when I get a chance I want to check it out. Hearing quite a few things about K-town... Might take you up on your offer when I get back.

I spent a couple years up there (Springvalley Sr.  YEAH) and from what I can remember it was freakin cold in the winter and freakin hot in the summer. Lotsa' babies cruizin around at the infamous Gyro (sp?) Beach but other than that it's like Surrey mixed with Vancouver - and not much of the good parts. Like Outkast said the traffic licks bag, and in the summer it's just a pass-through for Alberta tourists and their gargantuan motorhomes so it's even busier(is that a word). A sea of motorhomes on the 33 and 97 from may to september.
It's been about 5 years since I've been up there so I could imagine it's a hell of a lot worse now.
Good place to visit, party, then leave. At least that's my opinion.

We are up in Sicamous now, very slow pace of life, we get to enjoy it so much better now.  Every time I drive to Kelowna to get stuff it reminds me of Langley and Surrey.  CRAZY TRAFFIC, tons of people.  If you have a car to drive around while being in school, you might look around out of town for accomodations, and just drive in on the highway.  Make sure you don't have to go over the Okangan lake bridge though, it will feel like Vancouver rush hour,  with stop and go traffic for 30 minutes to get 2 miles.

Hey guys,
Thanks for all your input. For now it seems Kelowna will wait.. or infact may never occur after all. I talked to some people and have decided to live in the 604 for the next little while so Im not going anywhere quick. Thanks for the input!
