Wiper Blues And Vehicle Inspection, Problem Solvin
« on: March 24, 2005, 05:42:33 PM »
O.k so i have found out that a wiper motor spindles etc for a 65 split screen are one year only.... and i'm having a little difficulty(to say the least) in locating the parts i need, so i was thinking I f i had Safari windows would the wipers still be part of the inspection???I'm not suggesting that this will solve my problem but it would potentially allow me to get over a present stumbling block and soon start to enjoy my van on rainfree days. The Vi i have to get through is the one when you import a car so i imagine it will be pretty stringent. I'm also aware of the cost of safaris(good ones) i just thinking worst case scenario...

imho, i dont think a vehicle without windsheild wipers would ever pass a government inspection. especially here in the canadian rainforest!

Ok so you are in a bind how about beetle wipers maybe be smaller I think (early ones )  but will maybe work temporarily and or if you are planning on getting new  wiper motor file flat spot on shafts and put set screws in tight to the flat spot will work for a while till the flat  spot wears . Kinda a buthcer but might get you through tech .Have you asked Geoff he might have a few tricks up his sleeve .
I have used string out the window but inspection won't like that   good luck :)
Later outkast

Thats kinda what i think to, but i wasn't sure if there was a \"if you can see overit/around it rule.
I know i actually need them in all practical terms but at present i seem to have more chance of finding Lord Lucan shacked up with Elvis Presley and the 8thDwarf...than the parts i'm looking for.
Anyway the search continues :)
Happy easter to all, im hoping that the Pagan celebration of rebirth will bear fruits for one and all

That sucks man. Sorry 'bout that I was sure that they were all the same up to 66.    Sounds like you may have a tough search on your hands. Have you tried a posting on the Samba for a 65 only wiper?
Good luck!
