Need A Repair Shop
« on: February 23, 2005, 10:39:32 AM »
Hi All!
I have a friend that ran her 2000 VW Beetle 1.8T motor, without oil, and hurt the motor. I think most of the bearings are damaged. She's looking for a repair shop in Surrey, that can repair or replace the motor. Any suggestions?

No comments about her mistakes please. It is already considered  \"a lesson learned\".  Oil light means stop now!

It's an insane world out there... and I'm proud to be part of it!

A friends wife hit an exposed manhole cover with her 01 VR6 jetta... drained the oil and kept driving for a couple hours... don't know for sure, but I think it was over $5K for a new motor... ouch!

After phoning around, there are a couple of 1.8T motors available from local wrecking yards. She just needs to find a shop that can swap motors.  She originally had the car towed to the dealership in Surrey, and they told her $8K, including taxes. Bigger ouch!
